I am a Harvard- and UCSF-trained Board-Certified Forensic Psychiatrist. I am also Board Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. My goal is to offer high quality, evidence-based opinions and to explain them in a way that is easily accessible even to those who have little or no knowledge about complex mental health topics.

In both my clinical and forensic practice I have a focus on trauma-related disorders and substance use disorders. In addition to having conducted Independent Medical Examinations related to these topics in both civil and criminal proceedings I worked from 2017 to 2022 as a Staff Psychiatrist at the Trauma Recovery Program, a residential treatment program focusing on the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, substance use disorders, and other trauma-related disorders. I currently serve as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Stanford, where I continue to maintain a focus on evaluation and management of trauma-based disorders. I also have a wealth of experience evaluating and/or treating the full range of mental disorders across many different settings, both forensic and clinical.

I am also aware that even the most thoughtful and well-supported opinions are of little use if they are presented in a way that key decision makers will struggle to follow. Every good expert must be a great teacher, whether they are writing a report using plain language, explaining complex topics in a deposition, or educating a jury at trial. I draw from over ten years of experience teaching medical students and resident physicians first at Harvard, then at UCSF, and now as an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Stanford Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. I strive to clearly explain the nature of any mental health issues that are relevant to the proceeding at hand and to clearly explain their importance.
