Frequently Asked Questions - for Patients

I do not accept insurance and am considered an out-of-network provider. That means patients pay me directly and then can apply for reimbursement from their insurance company using a document called a "superbill" that I can provide. Please see my Out of Network Reimbursement page for more information about Reimbursify, which can simplify the process of filing and tracking claims. If you plan to apply for reimbursement through your insurance company, please contact them directly to ask about what costs your plan will cover. Unfortunately I will not be able to provide an estimate of how much (if anything) your insurance company will cover because that is dictated by their policies and procedures.

My rates are as follows:

• $500 for a 90-minute intake session

• $275 for a 30-minute follow up (typically 20-25 minutes face to face)

• $400 for a 60-minute follow up (typically 45-50 minutes face to face)

I will provide a document called a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. Please check with them about what coverage, if any, is available for out of network psychiatry services under your plan.

If asked, typical codes that will be utilized include:

A new patient evaluation: 99072 (psychiatric diagnostic evaluation with medical services)

A one-hour therapy followup: either evaluation and management code 99213 or 99214 along with add-on code 90836

A thirty-minute followup: either 99213 or 99214, if brief psychotherapy is included a 90833 code will be added on.

I offer both in-person evaluations and telehealth visits, typically based on your preference. In some cases, an in-person visit may be needed for tasks such as vital sign monitoring, a focused neurological examination, or in-person monitoring for controlled substances. In general, however, visits either by video call or in-person are acceptable and effective.

After our initial discussion I will send a link with a questionairre. I will also send patient portal instructions. From the patient portal you will be able to see your medical record, send me secure messages, view upcoming appointments, or coordinate rescheduling.
